Jeff Wall and Lorde

Jeff Wall, Boxing 2011
Still from Royals by Lorde. Directed by Joel Kefali, 2013

Perhaps this similarity is a coincidence but we think that's unlikely. It's satisfying to see the connections between and influences of contemporary art on pop culture, here in the most visual sense.

Three Studies of Lucian Freud, 1969

As Francis Bacon's triptych of Lucien Freud 'Three Studies of Lucian Freud, 1969' became the most expensive painting ever bought at auction (£89m), we got to thinking where Freud's fabulous stolen portrait of Bacon might be.

Thirteen years after the theft, Freud circulated the poster below around Berlin and even asked the thief if he would lend the painting for the duration of Freud's 2011 Tate retrospective, but sadly nobody came forward. We wonder what happened to all the posters, whether they were steamed off walls by art-lovers...

Damien Hirst rug for the Qatar Museums Authority

There are many exciting things about working with Damien Hirst, one of which is the opportunity to step out of our comfort zone. Dyed and hand tufted in India, this rug is two metres in diameter and has been made specially for his largest ever show 'Relics', now open at the Qatar Museums Authority in Doha.

National Theatre: Shopping & E*ting pop up opens!

As part of the National Theatre's 50th anniversary Kit Grover has designed a pop-up venue. In just ten working days, the previous structure was demolished and the complete new interior and exterior installed.

There are three bus shelters adapted for the merchandise, much of which we created especially for the store in collaboration with artists and designers.

As well as shopping there are cocktails at the bar and delicious food from the NT's highly-regarded bar staff and chefs.

Everybody Dies in Shakespeare's Tragedies

Caitlin Griffin was inspired when she created this exceptional educational chart showing the many many deaths in Shakespeare's Tragedies. Refashioned for the National Theatre's exclusive use, a wide range of merchandise will be available from mid-October.

The full range is now available at the National Theatre's pop up Shopping & E*ting and online.

National September 11 Memorial & Museum

About five years ago, MoMA kindly recommended us to the National September 11 Memorial & Museum. Our brief is so broad that the intended uses for our work are still not finalised, but momentously for us the designs have travelled from person, to desk, to department and have been approved for use. The 9/11 Memorial is free to use them while we keep a custodial eye on the project.

Here is the first of our designs: the shield is an ancient object. In its contemporary use, the shape of the shield, while significant is secondary to the words and images that identify the organisation to which those who wear it belong. The design is in honour of all shield bearers. In this application, the shields honour the courage and sacrifice of the first responders on 9/11. The design employs the shapes used by the principal organisations involved. It will be used in clusters of three or as a wallpaper, usually reproduced as black on black.

A bit of Kit's terrace made it to the office and into a very wholesome Snapchat.

Monday Portrait: Ken Currie

Continuing a slightly morbid run of Monday Portraits, this week is 'Unfamiliar Reflection', 2002 by Ken Currie. The reflection brings to mind Francis Bacon's 1955 work 'Study for a Portrait II (after the Life Mask of William Blake)'.

For those in Edinburgh, Currie's latest exhibition 'New Works' opens this weekend at the Scottish National Portrait Gallery.

Echo Park Time Travel Mart 826LA

Fluxus lives on at Los Angeles' Echo Park Time Travel Mart. For Christmas Kit was given a famous last words jar which turned us on to the place. They sell everything from pithy quips to robot milk and their online shop is well worth a visit for anyone with a sense of humour. An interest in time travel helps.

Back at the turn of the Millennium we made a range of Fake Fluxus products which you can see here.
